During a one-week academic visit to Tongji University in Shanghai, Associate Professor Dr. iur. Max Baumgart taught a short course entitled “Introduction to Law and Governance of the Energy Transition” to a highly engaged and inquisitive group of students. The course provided an overview of the legal and governance challenges associated with the global energy transition.
In addition, Associate Professor Dr. iur. Max Baumgart delivered an open university lecture titled “Blockchain in Energy Markets – Law as a Controller and Catalyst.” The lecture examined the dual role of law as both a regulatory framework and an enabler of digital innovation in energy markets, with particular attention to how existing legal frameworks can evolve through regulatory experimentation.
The visit offered rich opportunities for academic exchange, in-depth discussions, and interdisciplinary dialogue in an inspiring campus environment.
Warm thanks go to Sven Klose, German Director of the Institute of International Economic Law at Tongji University’s Faculty of Law, for the kind invitation and outstanding hospitality.
