ZIBR holds International Workshop on Transformation Law together with Leuphana University

With this workshop, ZIBR continues to contribute to international debates on regulatory innovation and the evolving role of law in managing socio-technical change.

From 22–24 April 2026, the Zug Institute for Blockchain Research (ZIBR) and the Leuphana University Lüneburg will host the international workshop “Transformation Law: Foundations, Frameworks, and Common Ground.” The workshop convenes PhD students and Postdocs to examine the normative foundations, institutional frameworks, and conceptual common ground of transformation law in an era shaped by digitalization and decarbonization.

The Zug Institute for Blockchain Research (ZIBR) is represented by:

Prof. Dr. Max Baumgart, Professor of Energy Law and Blockchain, is the workshop co-organizer and will participate in a panel discussion alongside distinguished internationalscholars.

Christoph Engel-Bunsas, Postdoctoral Researcher at ZIBR, will present his paper entitled “Voice Alterations – Legal Implications of Voice Synthesis by Smart Energy Devices.” His contribution addresses emerging legal challenges at the intersection of artificial intelligence, smart energy technologies, and regulatory accountability.

We are also delighted that our ZIBR Fellow Prof. Dr. Andrea Leiter, Director Amsterdam Center for International Law will deliver one of the keynotes.

This workshop further highlights ZIBR`s strong international academic network and its engagement in leading debates on how law can shape and even transform the economy and society.
