Annika is a senior social scientist working at the intersection of economic sociology, digital media studies, and science and technology studies (STS). Her research explores the socio-cultural dynamics of crypto and DeFi, how communities form, how people organise participation and belonging, and what financial and socio-technicalfutures they imagine themselves to be building.
At ZIBR, she will be working on twofascinating projects:
Gender & Crypto: examining the experiences of femalecrypto professionals and the "double legitimacy bind" women navigatein Bitcoin and Ethereum ecosystems, in collaboration with Kobe de Keere(University of Amsterdam).
Critique & Knowledge in Blockchain Research: an STS study that challenges foreclosing inquiry aroundcrypto and develops a more nuanced, situated epistemic stance, togetherwith researchers from ETH Zurich, the University of Hong Kong, and theUniversity of Jyväskylä.
